June referrals are in

People whose papers went to China last June have received their referrals - only a few more months to go ...

Have started to make lists of things that we will need to get together before heading off. A very organised person who left for China last week has handily compiled some lists for packing and taking with - includes everything from sellotape, tupperware boxes, cheerios to collapsible funnels! ...looks like there will be no room for our clothes !!! need I say more...

came back from a week in Mallorca week before last - it was good..here are some images of Mr N enjoying himself on his holidays and on his birthday - in front of the boat he wanted me to buy him for his birthday !

infuriating Celebs and their easy route to adoption!!!!!!!!!

Heard on the news that Angelina ( not a favourite in our household ! ) was on TV being interviewed just a few weeks after giving birth to her and Brad's child talking about how she would like to adopt another child!

Here is a dreadful article that appeared in the LA Times - I only copied the first bit about the pros and cons of adopting from China - but it carries on to talk about all the other options that she could look at .............It makes you want to scream

On the upside heard today on the message board that referrals are comoing through for all those people whose papers went to CHina at the end of June last year...it is creeping slowly towards August....lets hope that the CCAA ( China Center for Adoption Affairs ) speeds up a little after they move office ! Here's to efficiency and productivity...

How to Shop for Kids the Brangelina WayAngelina's "looking at different countries" to find another child toadopt. We weigh some likely possibilities.By Leslie Gornstein, Special to The Times

Less than a month after giving birth to her first biologicaldaughter, Angelina Jolie said Tuesday that she plans to adoptanother child. The Oscar-winning actress already has two adoptedtykes â€" a boy, Maddox Chivan, from Cambodia, and a girl, ZaharaMarley, from Ethiopia. Jolie also has her hands full with new babyShiloh Nouvel. (We hear Shiloh's father is an actor.)"We're looking at different countries," Jolie told CNN's AndersonCooper. "And it's gonna be the balance of what would be the best forMad and for Z right now. Another boy, another girl, which country, which race would fit best with the kids."

Now that Cambodia and Ethiopia are, you know, so yesterday, wheremight the next Jolie-Pitt adoptee be? Some likely possibilities:

CHINAThis country is like a machine " an adorable, adoptable-children machine. More than 7,900 rugrats adopted last year came from China. If Jolie seeks her next child in this country, she'll most likelyget a girl; only 5% of available children are boys.Estimated total cost: $20,000 to $25,000

Upside: Babies! Squadrons and squadrons of little babies!Downside: Only a limited number of singles may adopt. (Theexception: special-needs kids.) And when Jolie isn't growing herfamily, she's busy denying marriage rumors. Also, Jolie would haveto go through an agency approved by the Chinese; no privateadoptions permitted. That could mean less discretion than thepublicity-picky star might like.

Likelihood: Low. Jolie already has two girls. Add a third, and thatmakes for a perilously outnumbered Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt. Joliesays she wants "balance," which probably means a boy, and China isn't the most logical place to find one.

RUSSIAThis country is the second biggest supplier of adoptable moppets.More than 4,600 kids came from Russia last year.Estimated total cost: $30,000 to $40,000Upside: Ample pickin's. Ratio of boys to girls is 1 to 1. And ifJolie's plans for "balance" call for an older child, this is also agood country; in 2004, almost half of the children looking forparents were ages 1 to 4.Downside: No private adoptions here either. And maybe some badblood. In 2004, British and Russian papers buzzed that Jolie waspreparing to adopt a Muscovite orphan boy named Gleb. If there wassuch a failed plan, then Jolie's relationship with the Russians maybe as frosty as a St. Petersburg ice sculpture.Likelihood: High. Unless the Gleb tale is true. Then low.

First Full week not working !

and what a week - gloriously hot weather....has seen me in the garden taking in some rays and pottering around with watering cans to keep all of the seedlings that I planted out this week alive!

The garden is looking great but with this very hot weather and us off to Mallorca tomorrow for a week I think there may be a few casualties, it is easy to ask a neighbour to water the garden when you can use a hosepipe but lugging watering cans around is a pain in the neck!! So I am secretly hoping that it is going to rain next week Sorry!

Popped into Meteorite today to catch up with everyone after I had my hair cut and highlighted ...see new look above - self portrait not bad!
